Kajaria Ceramics 3 MW Rooftop Solar EPC Case Study

Project Overview

Greentek designed, engineered and commissioned a 3 MW rooftop-mounted OPEX solar plant for Kajaria Ceramics in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, delivering significant electricity cost reduction and production continuity.

The Challenge

Kajaria Ceramics operates a large manufacturing facility with high round-the-clock energy demand. The company needed a reliable, cost-effective renewable energy solution without upfront capital expenditure.

The Solution

Greentek proposed an OPEX model rooftop solar plant. Under this structure, Greentek and its financing partners own the asset while Kajaria purchases solar power at a tariff below the grid rate. The project included end-to-end engineering, procurement, construction, and integration with the existing electrical infrastructure.

Results

  • 3 MW of clean solar capacity installed on the factory rooftop
  • Significant reduction in grid electricity consumption and cost
  • Reliable power supply supporting production continuity
  • Zero upfront investment by the client under the OPEX model
  • Long-term O&M and performance monitoring by Greentek

Detailed Story

Kajaria Ceramics, one of India's leading tile manufacturers, partnered with Greentek to install a 3 MW rooftop solar plant at its Tirupati facility in Andhra Pradesh.

The project was executed on an OPEX model, which allowed Kajaria to benefit from solar power without any capital investment. Greentek handled the complete EPC scope, from structural assessment and detailed engineering to module installation, inverter integration, and net-metering commissioning.

The plant now generates a substantial portion of the facility's daytime power requirement, directly reducing grid consumption and electricity costs. The high-quality HDG mounting structure and Tier-1 components ensure long-term reliability in an industrial environment.

Post-commissioning, Greentek continues to provide operations and maintenance services along with remote performance monitoring, ensuring the asset delivers projected savings over its 25-year design life.

This project is a strong example of how C&I rooftop solar can combine financial savings with sustainability goals when executed by an experienced EPC partner.
